Alpen Optics Wide Angle Binoculars

by Jemmer Pablo
(San Jose, CA, USA)

I bought my Alpen Optics wide angle binoculars a year ago from someone who actually bought it 2nd hand from another guy for thirty dollars. It was still pretty good and I am quite happy about it although I bought it without the box and all.

It’s wide angle is at 8 x 40 and a clam shell. The focus is easy to adjust and it’s field view at 430 ft @ 1000 yards makes things clear in an instant.

This thing makes everyone happy whoever uses it and I think it would be great to use in sports or sports-like activities such as nature viewing, bird watching, camping, specially large arena baseball games or any major sports game where you have to sit the farthest possible your money can afford.

Some other features include exit pupil at 5mm, eye relief at 11mm, close focus at 16ft and weigh only at 25 oz. The lens is also coated also Porro prism type. It has a neckstrap with vinyl casing although it has a lifetime warranty, I did not have any documentation of this as I had it second hand without the box.

The thing that I like most about it is its power. When perfectly focused, an item will appear 8 times closer where your eyes cannot. Most binoculars at this price will have lesser power to compare with and so I am quite happy with this toy of mine when my friend offered it to me. I knew then that it will be a good buy specially the casing still seemed new knowing how my friend handles anything which usually becomes super scratched in just a few weeks.
