MEADE 10x50

by jorgeovi

These are some cheap binoculars, but offer very good image clarity for the money they cost. They can be found at about $30-40$.

They feature porro prism system with BAK-4 prism, and fully coated lenses. The range is between 114 and 1000 meters. The are of sturdy construction, and this makes them a little too weight, at about 30.0 oz. On the other hand this will give us a life-lasting pair of binoculars. Meade brand usually includes 5 years of full warranty.

The right sight features a dioptry control ring, useful for us who have different dioptries in the eyes. They also have a middle thread, which can be used for tripod mounting for astronomical observation. The thread is covered with a hard plastic cap when not in use.

The box also includes four plastic caps for covering the lenses, a transport bag in black colour with the meade logo, a neck carrying strap, and a soft tissue band for cleaning the lenses.

They are good for terrestrial observation, but they are a little too dark for astronomical observation, so they would be good for carrying in a easy trek in the wild (too heavy and big for longer trips), bird observation or to make a present to a friend who's initiating in astronomy observation without spending too much money.

Of course, they cannot be compared with higher prized binoculars like the Fujinon 25X150, but they are almost the best you can get for that money.

All in all, for that price they are a well made pair of binoculars, providing a nice sharp and bright image, an excellent option for a first-time buyer.
