Nikon Action 7x35 9.3 degrees

by Nat

These are a good pair of basic binoculars. I got them for whale watching when I was living in Hawaii and have been very happy with them.

They have very crisp optics, I compared them with a lot of other pairs in the store when I bought them and they were by far the best in my price range.

I wear glasses and have substantially different prescriptions in both eyes, but am able to adjust these easily to keep things in focus. (That's not something I can do with every pair of binoculars)

These have a nice feel in your hands, very solid and well crafted. Nothing about them feels cheap. They have nice rubberized grips in all the right spots and ridges to help you keep your hands from slipping off accidentally. The included lens caps are adequate, but not fantastic.

The case is pretty nice though, well padded and secure enough with a velcro closure. I wish the case was a little bigger though, it's hard to fit the binoculars in there when the neck strap is attached too.

I use these for my work on a regular basis, to inspect things 40-50 feet up in the air. I find that they work well in a variety of lighting conditions, although obviously the best results come from when the object is directly lit.

If you need a great deal of detail, I would recommend getting something more powerful, or with a zoom even. But again, for just some basic quality magnification, I don't think you can do much better for this price range.
