Nikon Eagleview 8-24x25

by Thomas K
(Converse, TX)

I purchased these binoculars at Sportsman?s Warehouse for about $150.00 during the summer of 2007. I tested several models in the store and these seemed to be the best at the time. I thought Nikon was a respectable brand and these happened to be in my price range.

Unfortunately, I should have comparison shopped a little bit more. For the price, these were the worst binoculars I have ever used. The lenses always appeared dark (I attribute this to the small diameter of the lenses). The awkward zoom switch was hard to operate, especially in cold weather.

The camouflage came off very easily and left a nasty white spot. The only positive comment worth noting is the light weight of the binoculars.

I must say that I have used several other brands that were much better for the price. In fact, I sold this pair and I instead use a $30 pair from Bass Pro Shops that works infinitely better. The Nikon?s seemed to be on par with some sub $20 binoculars purchased from Wal-Mart.

I have owned a few Leupold riflescopes that were worth their weight in gold; if I were to buy another pair of binoculars in the price range of one hundred and fifty to two hundred dollars, I would purchase one of the Leupold Acadia series.

I would rate these binoculars an overall three out of ten, given its poor design, lack of light transmitted through the optics, and easily removed camouflage coating. Do yourself a favor and go with Leupold, Zeiss or Swarovski.
