Nikon Trailblazer ATB Waterproof 8 x 25 Binoculars

by lydia compton
(baltimore, md)

I bought my Nikon Trailblazer ATB Waterproof 8 x 25 Binoculars for $89.95 from REI for a camping trip in which pack space was going to be at a premium – and I am sure glad that I did.

These binoculars will not disappoint you; they are great for almost any kind of outdoor activity (birding, hiking, traveling, sports watching, hunting, you name it!).

The Nikon Trailblazers packed well, and didn't take up much space or weight. The rubber-armored exterior didn't get damaged at all on the whole trip, and it made them easier to hold when my hands were sweaty. The focus was very easy to adjust because the focus wheel is well placed and quite large. I was even able to adjust it when I was wearing gloves, in the morning when it was still chilly.

My friend wears glasses, and she said that the binoculars were very easy for her to use without removing her eyeglasses because of their turn-and-slide rubber eyecups. These binoculars performed very well in the morning and the evening because of the multiple layers of anti-reflective compounds on the lenses which make for realistic transmission of low levels of light.

This was good for me, because the place that I was camping in had the most wildlife activity in the morning and evening, and other brands of binoculars just could not provide me with the quality of images that I needed to really appreciate the diversity of wildlife.

If you’re looking for a relatively inexpensive pair of binoculars that are sturdy and versatile, the Nikon Trailblazer binoculars are for you!

Small and strong
by: Loni

I got this set of small binoculars about a year ago as a gift. I don't know a thing about binoculars, so I didn't know then what a nice gift I had gotten!

These are 8x25 8.2degree WF (whatever that means), water resistant in a matte camo. They also have a strong adjustable strap.

There are gel-like pads where your fingers and thumb rest, making the binoculars easy to hang on to and keeping them from slipping if you use them outside with gloves.

I have taken them on a couple of walks through the fields and forests near my home and they were wonderful for checking out the deer feeding on the hillside across the valley from me.

I keep them next to my computer desk at home, which features a window where I can see the bird feeders. This is the perfect setup to use these binoculars.

They are very small when folded closed, measuring only 2.5 x 4 inches, so they're handy without taking up space. Despite their small size, they have plenty of power and versatility.

It's easy to focus clearly on the doves, sparrows and chick-a-dees here on my porch railing. With just a simple adjustment I can refocus on the blue jays feeding from the feeder hanging out under the pine tree. A bit more adjusting and I can spy on the red-tailed hawk lurking across the road in the trees.

They make it easy to count the turkeys as they pick through the tall grass in the pasture before the tree line. They seem to be pretty tough, as well. I'm a satisfied owner of these Nikon binoculars.
