Simmons

by Billie
(Indiana)

Trying to decide what binoculars to purchase can be an overwhelming task. I lived in 6 different houses in a span of 8 years. The first few houses/apartments that I lived in, there was no need for binoculars unless I wanted to look into my neighbors windows!.

Once we finally got settled into the house my husband built, I was in need of my own pair of binoculars.

At this new house we have there is a beautiful woods and meadow in our back yard. It is the perfect place for watching birds, field mice, raccoons, and other small animals. When I started looking out my window and seeing all these different creatures, I wanted a better look. The birds were beautiful, some big and some small but all very pretty.

My husband already had a pair of his own binoculars, Simmons 10X25, and we would go back and forth with adjusting them. As you can imagine, that was not very convenient! It was especially difficult when we both wanted to look through them at the same time.

That started my interest in binoculars. I started looking for my own pair without mentioning it to my husband. It was probably around October. I looked on the internet for articles about which binoculars would work best. Everyone has there own ideas and it was very confusing. I looked in stores and it was just overwhelming to me. I hadn't figured out what I was going to do and I found myself wishing I could just keep his pair of binoculars and he could get another for himself.

By the time I was ready to ask him about it, it was Christmas. I was a very unsuspecting wife, but, to my surprise, my husband got me a pair of binoculars for a present. To my delight they were the exact same ones that he had, the Simmons 10X25! If only I would have thought of that! How silly of me, but then, I would not have gotten such a good Christmas present.

Now that we both have our own Simmons, we spend time together looking out the window at the beautiful outdoors. We have seen pileated woodpeckers, blue birds, red-winged hawks, and many other interesting birds and animals.
