Tasco 165RB Binoculars

by Gloria
(KY, USA)

I received these Tasco binoculars as a Christmas present several years ago. I've used them quite a bit and over all, I'm satisfied with them. These binoculars small in size.

When they are closed together, they can easily fit in the palm of your hand or inside of your pocket. They are also light weight, which is a great thing if you are planning to take them along on hiking or walking trips.

The also have an attached strap, so they can hang from your next when you are not using them. I wish the strap was detachable, but it is not a big deal.

The lenses are fully coated and they have yet to get a scratch even though I have dropped them in brush several times. The outside case of the binoculars is made of thick, hard black plastic. They are very durable and resistant to breaking. The eye pieces are made of soft black rubber and they have also held up well.

The front of the binoculars say 383 foot/ 1000 yards. You can adjust them by turning the eye pieces or a small dial towards the front. I would rate the vision quality as good, but not very good. I mean, these are very reasonably priced binoculars that you could purchase for less than 20 dollars. They are not made to be high powered.

I just wanted them so I could see from about 100 yards away and they are fine for that.
I would recommend them to someone that just wants a inexpensive pair of binoculars that don't need to be super high powered.

That fact that these binoculars are very durable, makes them a good pair for me and my needs. Over all, I would give them a four on a five star rating scale.

Great for my 8 year old son
by: Anonymous

I got these binoculars for a very specific reason and I have been very happy with him. My son had developed an interest in bird watching while in scouts, and I wanted to teach him how to observe birds and other wildlife from a distance.

We also built a big bird feeding station which we could see from our kitchen window, and I wanted him to be able to have some binoculars he could leave right there and grab whenever an unusual bird like a woodpecker or hummingbird would come feeding through.

My son had been trying to use a very cheap set of plastic binoculars and had been getting frustrated. We went to a local sporting goods store to see if they had any binoculars (I had never bought a set). I wasn’t even sure if they would have any.

Luckily, they had a huge selection, and on the high end the binoculars were over a thousand dollars. I wasn’t sure how good the low end binoculars would be, but we found these, and they were quite affordable (I think somewhere between 10 and 15 dollars).

We tried them out in the store and were quite happy with our ability to see objects hundreds of feet away very clearly. These binoculars were also very good for an eight-year-old boy’s sized hands. The focus adjustments are simple, a little wheel in the middle which can be turned with one finger while looking through the eyepieces.

The binoculars are sturdy, with rubber coated body and metal frame. The lenses are good and clear. They came with a neoprene carrying case and a string neck strap which is built in. They are light enough to carry all day on hikes or to ball games, small enough to keep sitting on the windowsill by the bird feeders, and they were inexpensive enough so that I don’t worry when my son takes them to school.
